Presidency Calls For VDM’s Prosecution Over Alleged Fake Tinubu Audio

The Presidency has called for legal action against social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over the circulation of an alleged fake audio linked to President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, accused VDM of spreading false information online through the controversial audio recording.

According to Onanuga, the social media influencer should face prosecution for allegedly distributing misleading content involving the President. He described the incident as a serious misuse of social media platforms.

In a post shared on 𝕏, Onanuga stated that VDM must “face the weight of the law” for allegedly disseminating the fake audio of Tinubu, insisting that such actions amount to an abuse of digital platforms.

The presidential aide was responding to comments made by an 𝕏 user identified as Aneex, who questioned why some Nigerians believed the voice in the viral recording belonged to Tinubu.

The user reportedly described the audio as “cheap propaganda” and accused VDM of using public sentiment to spread misinformation online.

Meanwhile, BBNaija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has reportedly lost access to her Instagram account.

The development comes amid her ongoing social media dispute with VeryDarkMan. Reports indicate that her Instagram page was suspended on Monday during the heated online exchange.

Phyna had earlier accused VDM of attempting to manipulate public opinion against her after she allegedly rejected his sexual advances.

However, VDM denied the allegation, insisting that requesting consent between adults was normal, while also demanding evidence to support the claim.

To support her accusation, Phyna later shared what she claimed were WhatsApp conversations between herself and VDM on her Instagram page.
