Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) shortly after losing the party’s primary election.
According to Naija News, a statement by his media aide, Sunday Areh, revealed that Omo-Agege’s resignation was contained in a letter dated May 22, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
He explained that his decision to leave the ruling party was influenced by recent developments within the APC in Delta State, following consultations with his political allies and supporters.
Omo-Agege stated that he believes his political ambitions and the interests of his constituents would be better pursued outside the party.
While expressing gratitude to the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, he reaffirmed his commitment to advancing development and effective representation for Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria.
He added: “I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria.”
He further noted that he has requested the removal of his name from all party membership records, registers, and communication lists.
