Shaffy Bello Says Women in Sex Work Should Do It “With Confidence” — But Not Stay There

Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has sparked conversation after sharing unconventional views about women involved in commercial sex work.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Moraya Show, Bello said she does not judge women who engage in prostitution, noting that some do so out of financial pressure or survival needs.

According to her, those in the profession should carry themselves with confidence and dignity if they choose that path, but should not remain in it long-term.

“If what you are doing now is being a ‘runs girl’ to make money, you don’t have to stay there. I understand it, I never judge. If you go be ashawo, do am well. Do it well with respect and your full-chest,” she said.

She added that many women take such steps to support their families, including paying school fees or helping parents, but advised them to move on when their circumstances improve.

“However, don’t stay there. If that is what you have to do right now to make a living… I understand it. However, my darlings, don’t stay there,” Bello added.

In the same interview, Bello also spoke about her career, stressing that not every actor needs to become a movie producer. She said she is focused on acting and staying within her purpose rather than taking on roles that do not align with her calling.
