Why I performed at APC convention – Ice Prince reveals

Nigerian singer Panshak Henry Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince, has responded to criticism surrounding his performance at the 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention.

Naija News recalls that the rapper faced backlash for performing at the APC event at a time when the country is grappling with worsening insecurity and economic challenges.

Some social media users argued that the ‘Kolo’ hitmaker should instead use his platform to speak out on issues affecting Nigerians and demand accountability from the current administration.

Addressing the controversy during a recent episode of the Black Box podcast, Ice Prince explained that the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, personally invited him to perform and is a close family relative.

He said, “Who booked me for that event? My uncle, Nentawe Yilwatda, who is the APC Chairman. He is not just a random person to me. He is my real uncle.”

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old rapper has also opened up about why he is taking his time before getting married, noting that the state of many modern relationships has made him more cautious.

Speaking during a podcast interview with media personality Rufai Oseni, Ice Prince said he has witnessed several couples separate shortly after marriage, which has influenced his perspective on relationships.

According to him, the increasing rate of failed marriages has changed how he views settling down.

The rapper also highlighted the financial burden associated with weddings, stating that many people spend excessively on ceremonies and sometimes even take loans to fund them.

Ice Prince added that some of his friends frequently reach out to him for financial assistance to organize their weddings, stressing that he does not want to find himself in a similar position.
