Former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Jude Imagwe, has stated that there is no evidence suggesting the former president has obtained, completed, or signed any nomination forms for the 2027 presidential election.
Naija News reports that Imagwe made the clarification during an interview on News Central Television, while responding to claims from a Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which reportedly listed Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the upcoming election.
According to Imagwe, Jonathan is neither interested in returning to power nor actively pursuing any presidential ambition.
He stressed that the former president is not driven by a desire to return to Aso Rock, noting that his past actions demonstrate a willingness to leave office peacefully.
Imagwe said Jonathan’s political journey has been shaped by discipline, humility, and sacrifice, adding that attempts to link him to current political speculation are misleading.
He also criticized those promoting Jonathan’s name for 2027, accusing them of using his profile to drive political attention despite no clear indication from the former president himself.
“There is no evidence—no signed documents, no nomination forms, and no pictorial proof showing that the former president has engaged in any such process,” he said.
Imagwe further explained that any valid nomination process would require the candidate’s signature and formal participation, none of which has been observed in Jonathan’s case.
He concluded that Jonathan has not made any public declaration regarding the 2027 race and should not be dragged into speculative political discussions.
