Founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Mike Bamiloye, has come to the defence of Enoch Adeboye following criticism over the cleric’s comments on Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
The controversy arose after a video resurfaced showing Adeboye urging the Federal Government to give security chiefs a 90-day deadline to end terrorism or step down from their positions. The clip, which was originally recorded in November 2025, was recently shared online, prompting debates and claims that the RCCG leader had opposed planned protests against insecurity.
Reacting via Instagram on Wednesday, Bamiloye accused bloggers and critics of taking Adeboye’s comments out of context and failing to acknowledge his consistent stance against societal evils.
According to him, the respected cleric has never remained silent on national issues and has repeatedly spoken against insecurity and other challenges facing the country.
Bamiloye also questioned calls for the 84-year-old pastor to personally lead street demonstrations, arguing that such expectations ignore both his age and the nature of his spiritual calling.
Addressing comparisons with Adeboye’s participation in a protest march during the administration of the late Muhammadu Buhari, Bamiloye explained that the action was carried out in response to a directive from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), which had instructed churches nationwide to protest against insecurity.
He noted that Adeboye merely complied with the directive and led his denomination in the demonstration, just as other church leaders did.
Bamiloye further stressed that the Church’s foremost responsibility is to pray for peace, stability, and divine intervention in the affairs of the nation, rather than engaging directly in political activism.
