Nigerian-British entrepreneur and wife of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, Nana Otedola, has addressed long-standing assumptions about her nationality, firmly stating that she is Nigerian and not Ghanaian.
Speaking in a viral video alongside her pregnant daughter, Temi Otedola, Nana explained that speculation about her being Ghanaian likely stems from her name and appearance.
Setting the record straight, she said she is an Egba woman from Abeokuta in Ogun State and proudly identifies as Nigerian.
“To clear the air, I’m an Egba woman, and that’s the part I’ll gladly claim as a Nigerian. I am not Ghanaian; my roots are in Abeokuta,” she stated.
Nana Otedola noted that the confusion may also be linked to her upbringing, as she was born in Kaduna State and spent nearly two decades living in northern Nigeria.
According to her, growing up in Kaduna may have influenced how people perceive her background, but it does not change her heritage.
“I was born in Kaduna and lived there for almost 20 years,” she said, emphasizing that despite her strong connection to the North, her ancestral roots remain firmly in Egba land.
