The Delta State Government has approved a comprehensive welfare package for applicants participating in the ongoing 91st Regular Recruits Intake Screening Exercise of the Nigerian Army in Asaba.
The initiative, approved by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, comes as the recruitment screening exercise enters its 10th day and is aimed at easing the financial burden on shortlisted candidates.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Abubakar Umar Hammanga, the Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, announced the governor’s approval of the support package.
The government said the intervention is designed to help candidates navigate the recruitment process more comfortably by providing daily welfare assistance throughout the screening period.
As part of the package, applicants are receiving accommodation support, including foams and bedding materials, as well as transportation services to facilitate movement to and from designated screening locations.
The screening exercise is scheduled to conclude on June 23, and authorities have urged all shortlisted candidates who are yet to report at the centre to do so before the deadline.
Officials warned that failure to participate within the stipulated timeframe could result in disqualification from the recruitment process.
The statement further disclosed that the Commander of the 63 Brigade, Brigadier General F. Shonibare, and the Director of Recruitment, Brigadier General I. Sule, visited the screening centre to monitor the exercise.
During their visit, the senior military officers encouraged candidates to remain disciplined, focused, and committed, assuring them that the recruitment process would be conducted fairly, transparently, and strictly on merit.
They also urged participants to put forth their best efforts as they seek to secure positions in the Nigerian Army.
