Governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reviewed the party’s recent primary elections and agreed to engage with the APC National Chairman, Netanwe Yilwatda, and other key leaders as preparations begin ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), which ended in the early hours of Tuesday in Abuja.
Speaking after the meeting, PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said the governors assessed the outcome of APC primaries nationwide, the recent Ekiti governorship election, and several by-elections where he said the party recorded positive results.
Uzodimma noted that the forum also deliberated on issues affecting Nigeria’s democratic system and measures to improve citizens’ welfare.
He said the governors had resolved to work toward addressing challenges within the democratic space and ensuring better outcomes for Nigerians.
The Imo governor added that the forum would meet with APC leaders to commence strategic planning for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
“We have resolved to meet with the leadership of the party to plan for the upcoming 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections. We are ready and good to go,” he stated.
Uzodimma said the governors would continue collaborating with the APC leadership to strengthen the party and support the implementation of policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
The meeting was attended by several APC governors, including those from Ekiti, Zamfara, Taraba, Lagos, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom and Borno states.
The governors reaffirmed their commitment to consolidating the party’s structure and ensuring effective delivery of government programmes ahead of future elections.
