The All Progressives Congress (APC) has completed the submission and upload of its candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 general elections on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, disclosed that the exercise covered candidates contesting positions ranging from the state Houses of Assembly to the presidential election.

According to Yilwatda, the party completed the process within INEC’s original deadline.

He made this known in a statement issued over the weekend by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki.

The APC chairman said the successful exercise involved coordination between the party’s national secretariat, state chapters, candidates and election management teams across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Yilwatda described the early completion of the process as evidence of the party’s organisational preparedness ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said the APC deliberately avoided waiting until the final hours of the submission window, adding that proper planning and coordination helped the party complete the exercise on time.

INEC had initially set Saturday, August 8, as the deadline for political parties to submit candidates for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

The electoral commission, however, later extended the deadline to Tuesday, August 11, following requests from some political parties for additional time.

With the candidate upload completed, Yilwatda said the APC would now focus on other aspects of its preparations for the elections.

He identified campaign coordination, voter mobilisation, engagement with candidates, grassroots organisation and policy communication as some of the party’s immediate priorities.

The APC chairman also stressed the importance of strong internal structures and effective coordination, given the scale of the 2027 general elections.

He urged Nigerians to assess political parties not only on their campaign promises but also on their organisational capacity, compliance with electoral rules and ability to effectively manage their structures.

Yilwatda commended members of the APC National Working Committee, state executives, candidates and election management teams for their contributions to the submission process.

He maintained that completing the exercise ahead of schedule was only one stage of the party’s preparations and urged APC members to remain united, disciplined and focused ahead of the 2027 elections.
