The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will send a 15-member delegation to Nigeria today, October 16, for a final inspection of facilities ahead of the 48th Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards.
The inspection will evaluate preparations for the two events, scheduled to take place in Abuja and Lagos in November and December, respectively.
The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled for 21 November at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, while the 2026 CAF Awards will take place on 7 December at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos.
The delegation will be led by CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, Christian Emeruwa, and will arrive in Lagos on Friday afternoon.
In Lagos, the officials are scheduled to inspect the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Eko Hotel & Suites, and Murtala Muhammed International Airport. They will also hold meetings with officials of the Lagos State Government.
In Abuja, the team will assess the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The delegation is also scheduled to pay courtesy visits to the chairman and director-general of the National Sports Commission.
A six-member team from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by its director of communications, Ademola Olajire, will accompany the CAF delegation during the inspections.
