2027 Elections: Tinubu Urges Nigerian Youths to Collect PVCs, Says Their Future Depends on Poll

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerian youths to take an active part in the 2027 general elections by collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that the outcome of the election will have a significant impact on their future.

The president made the appeal on Saturday, November 7, 2026, while addressing supporters at the Rainbow Coalition presidential campaign rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Speaking directly to young Nigerians, Tinubu said the forthcoming election should not be viewed as a contest centered on his personal political ambition but as an opportunity for the younger generation to influence the direction of the country.

According to him, young people must recognize the importance of their votes and take responsibility for deciding who governs Nigeria.

“This election is about you. It’s not about me. Your future depends on this election,” the president told the crowd.

He particularly appealed to eligible voters who were yet to collect their PVCs, urging them to visit the appropriate collection centers ahead of the election.

Tinubu described the voter card as a powerful tool through which Nigerians could exercise their democratic rights and influence political decisions.

He said, “It is left for you to use the weapon you have. And that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead and collect it.”

Beyond the election, the president also used the occasion to defend his administration’s economic policies, describing economic development as an important tool for tackling poverty and improving living conditions across the country.

Tinubu claimed that his government was addressing outstanding pension and gratuity payments inherited from previous administrations, noting that billions and trillions of naira in unpaid entitlements were being cleared.

He maintained that the payments were helping retired Nigerians from different professional backgrounds, including teachers, engineers, and welders, receive their long-awaited benefits.

According to the president, the administration’s goal is to ensure that economic prosperity reaches ordinary Nigerians and their families.

The Port Harcourt rally was organized by the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in support of Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The coalition brings together politicians and supporters from different political parties, particularly members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The group had earlier endorsed Tinubu for another term and announced its preferred candidates for various elective positions in Rivers State.

Tinubu’s appearance in Port Harcourt is part of his growing political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections. He had earlier launched his re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24, 2026.

With the election approaching, the President’s message places particular emphasis on youth participation, voter registration, and the role of PVCs in shaping Nigeria’s political future.
