Nigerian rapper and social commentator Eedris Abdulkareem has released a new song titled MAINTAIN, using music to draw attention to the persistent challenges of cultism, violent crime, and insecurity in Edo State.
Released under Lakreem Entertainment on November 7, 2026, the track takes on a strong social message, focusing on the security campaign of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and his administration’s efforts to address violent cult activities across the state.
Known for using his music to address political developments, social injustice, and issues affecting ordinary Nigerians, Abdulkareem once again turns to his familiar style of social commentary. Rather than limiting the song to entertainment, he uses it to send a message about personal responsibility, public safety, and the consequences of criminal behavior.
In MAINTAIN, the rapper draws attention to the government’s stated determination to confront cult-related violence and other criminal activities. The song presents the administration’s security drive as an effort to restore public confidence and make communities safer.
Its title, MAINTAIN, carries a direct message in everyday street language, warning individuals involved in cultism, banditry, and other forms of criminality to abandon such activities and stay on the right side of the law.
Beyond its reference to the state government’s security efforts, the song also highlights the wider impact of cult-related violence on society. In Edo State, the problem has remained a source of concern, with its consequences extending beyond victims to families, schools, businesses, and entire communities.
For residents, insecurity does not simply mean occasional violence; it can disrupt education, discourage business activities, threaten livelihoods, and create an atmosphere of fear.
Abdulkareem’s latest release therefore places music within a broader conversation about security and accountability. It also draws attention to the role of public awareness and community cooperation in addressing criminal activities.
While the song brings the Okpebholo administration’s anti-cultism campaign into the spotlight, its central message goes beyond politics: lasting security requires individuals and communities to reject violence and support lawful conduct.
With MAINTAIN, Eedris Abdulkareem continues his tradition of using music as a platform for social commentary, turning a longstanding security concern into a message that reaches beyond government statements and political discussions.
