
Renowned Hollywood actress Catherine O’Hara, best known for her roles in Home Alone and Schitt’s Creek, has passed away at the age of 71.
O’Hara’s death was confirmed on Friday by her agency, Creative Artists Agency (CAA). According to the statement, the actress died at her residence in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles. The cause of death was not disclosed.
A Canadian-born performer, O’Hara began her career in improvisational comedy before going on to enjoy a remarkable career spanning several decades across film, television and stage.
She gained worldwide recognition for her role as the anxious yet loving mother of Macaulay Culkin’s character in the first two Home Alone movies.
Years later, she captivated a new generation of viewers with her critically acclaimed portrayal of Moira Rose in the Emmy Award-winning series Schitt’s Creek, a role she played over 80 episodes.
Her extensive filmography also includes notable titles such as Best in Show (2000), A Mighty Wind (2003), Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, among many others, cementing her reputation as one of comedy’s most distinctive and celebrated talents.
