“God Is On My Side” — Davido Reacts After Grammy Loss

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has finally spoken out following his loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The award ceremony, held on Sunday, February 1, saw Davido, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr lose the Best African Music Performance category to South African singer Tyla.

Tyla won the award with her track Push 2 Start, beating Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, as well as Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin.

Breaking his silence, Davido took to his Instagram page to share photos from the Grammys, where he attended alongside his wife, Chioma, and his manager, Asa Asika. In the caption, the singer expressed confidence and gratitude, writing in Pidgin, “Oluwa dey my side” (God is on my side).

Reacting to the outcome, Davido’s associate, Israel DMW, reassured fans that the singer remains a top force in the music industry, promising that more great songs are on the way.

Davido’s sister, Sharon Adeleke, also showed her support by sharing a Bible verse on her Instagram story: “At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.”

Socialite Cubana Chief Priest encouraged Davido to stay strong, urging him to keep his head high and continue releasing new music despite the setback.

This loss mirrors the disappointment of the 2024 Grammy Awards, when no Nigerian artist won any category. Burna Boy, who had four nominations that year, also missed out on all of them.

At the 2026 Grammys, Davido lost his three nominations — Best Global Music Performance, Album of the Year, and Best African Music Performance. Other Nigerian stars including Asake, Ayra Starr, and Olamide also failed to secure awards.

Despite the losses, fans continue to rally around the artists, celebrating their global impact and influence.
