The state government encouraged residents to take part in the celebrations in a peaceful manner, while also reflecting on the achievements recorded over the years and renewing commitment to future progress.
According to the government, the Golden Jubilee programme features events aimed at honouring the state’s history, celebrating present accomplishments, and setting the agenda for a more prosperous future.
Ogun State was created on February 3, 1976, making the anniversary a significant milestone and an opportunity for residents to come together in unity and celebration.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Ogun State has confirmed a fresh attack on its officers by suspected smugglers along a bush route in Alapoti, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening during a routine anti-smuggling operation. Customs officers intercepted individuals transporting foreign parboiled rice on motorcycles and confiscated 46 bags weighing 50kg each.
However, as the officers attempted to withdraw with the seized items, they were attacked by a mob armed with Dane guns, stones, bottles, and other dangerous weapons.
