BREAKING ” Governor Makinde Speaks On Leaving PDP

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said he has no plan to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform that brought him into office.

Recall that he made this known on Thursday in Ibadan during the Omituntun Ramadan Lecture.

While speaking before party members and supporters, the governor said he remains committed to the PDP and will continue to stand with the party.

He made it clear that he is not considering any move away from it.

Makinde stated that his loyalty remains with the party and its ideals.

He said the PDP must place its attention on good governance and the ability to deliver results to the people, rather than building support around any single individual.

According to him, public service should be the main focus of every political actor.

His comment comes at a time when there are talks of possible defections and realignments within the PDP as politicians begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Makinde also spoke about unity within the PDP. He said that although governors and other leaders have the right to make personal political decisions, such actions should not damage the party or weaken its structure.

He added that internal issues must be handled in a way that keeps the party strong and focused on its responsibilities to Nigerians.
