Iran reportedly fired missiles toward Israel on Saturday morning in response to earlier coordinated strikes carried out on its territory.
The development comes after U.S. President, Donald Trump, confirmed American participation in what he described as “major combat operations” inside Iran.
According to reports, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it detected missiles launched from Iran shortly after the offensive began. Air raid sirens were sounded nationwide, while the military stated it was working to intercept the incoming projectiles and carry out countermeasures where necessary.
The IDF urged citizens to comply strictly with Home Front Command safety directives, cautioning that its defensive systems are not completely foolproof.
In a separate development, Trump, speaking in a video message released after the United States and Israel commenced airstrikes on Iran, pledged to dismantle the country’s naval and missile capabilities. He also called on Iranians to rise against their government.
Addressing viewers from his residence in Florida via his Truth Social platform, Trump said the objective was to cripple Iran’s military infrastructure and end the rule of the authorities that have governed since the 1979 revolution.
“We are going to destroy their missiles and eliminate their missile industry completely. It will be wiped out. We’re also going to annihilate their navy,” he stated.
In a direct appeal to the Iranian people, Trump added, “When we are done, take control of your government. It will be yours to claim.”
