Politicians Who Left PDP Will Return – Emmanuel Ogidi says

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogidi, has expressed confidence that several politicians who defected from the party will eventually make their way back.

Ogidi made the remark on Wednesday during a live interview on Trust TV, where he addressed the recent wave of defections, including governors moving from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

When asked whether the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, criticised the PDP before his exit, Ogidi described him as a gentleman who refrained from speaking negatively about the party.

He lamented developments in Nigeria’s political landscape, suggesting that the country is drifting away from true democratic practice.

“I believe some persons who decamped from PDP will return,” he said.

Meanwhile, Fintiri has responded to speculation surrounding the resignation of Adamawa’s Commissioner for Works, who is the son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The resignation had sparked rumours of political rifts, but the governor dismissed such claims. According to him, the commissioner did not truly intend to step down. Rather, the government permitted him to leave office temporarily to align politically with his father.

Fintiri noted that the decision was influenced not only by politics but also by moral considerations and timing.

“We excused him. I don’t think he really wanted to resign. We excused him out of the government so that he can pitch with his father, which is the normal thing to do,” the governor explained.

He added that governance decisions are guided by broader national interests and long-term stability, stressing his administration’s commitment to unity and the country’s collective progress.
