Kabiru Isa Dandago, a former Commissioner for Finance in Kano State, has passed away.
According to reports, the professor died on Wednesday evening at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
His death was confirmed by Lamara Garba, Director of Information at Bayero University Kano. Garba said the late scholar, who specialised in Accounting and Taxation, died after many years of service to both the university and Kano State.
The university described the development as a painful loss to the academic community, noting that Dandago had only recently contributed to a welfare fund set up to support families of deceased staff members.
Until his passing, the professor remained active in academic engagements and public discourse. Just last weekend, he participated as a panel discussant at a Ramadan lecture organised by the International Institute of Islamic Thought.
Dandago served as Kano State Commissioner for Finance from June 2015 to October 2018 during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
Beyond his role in government, he had a distinguished academic career at Bayero University Kano, which began in September 1990. Over the years, he rose to become Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.
Throughout his career, Dandago made significant contributions to research and scholarship, authoring and editing several books on Accounting, Taxation, Finance and Economics.
