‘If You’re Not Afraid, Let’s Meet on the Field’ — Amaechi Challenges Tinubu

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fearful of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Amaechi made the claim in a video currently circulating on social media.

The ADC chieftain, who has indicated interest in contesting the presidency in 2027, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government is acting out of panic and attempting to distract Nigerians.

He questioned the achievements of the current administration since it assumed office, stating that the government’s only notable claim has been the proposed Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.

Amaechi noted that during his tenure as Minister of Transportation under former President Muhammadu Buhari, several infrastructure projects were completed and are still in use today. According to him, the current administration cannot point to comparable achievements aside from alleged financial mismanagement.

“I thought the President said they were popular. What we are seeing now are panic measures. They are afraid. If they are not afraid, let us meet on the field and allow the people to decide who they want. What they are doing is trying to impose politicians on the people,” Amaechi said.

He further questioned the progress of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project, asking where the road currently stands.

Amaechi cited projects carried out during his time in office, including the Itakpe–Warri Railway, the Lagos–Ibadan Railway, the Kaduna–Abuja rail line, and the ongoing Kano–Kaduna railway project before the end of the Buhari administration. He also referenced the Lekki Deep Sea Port as part of the infrastructure developments completed during that period.

“Let this government show one project it has completed anywhere in the country, whether in the North or South, apart from stealing money,” he added.
