The Wuse Ward chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Federal Capital Territory has announced the indefinite suspension of Ireti Kingibe over alleged anti-party conduct and breaches of party regulations.
The announcement was made by the ward chairman, Kanayo Chukwu, during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja.
Chukwu explained that the decision followed a ward general meeting on March 10, 2026, where members reviewed multiple allegations against the senator.
According to him, the gathering, which reportedly had over 2,000 participants, considered several accusations including the alleged seizure of the ward register, operating a parallel membership registration exercise, frequent absence from ward meetings, failure to pay mandatory party dues, and actions perceived as insubordination to party leadership.
He noted that members resolved to suspend the senator after what they described as serious violations of party rules.
“After careful deliberation on these serious offences, a motion for the immediate suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe was moved and approved by a two-thirds majority of the executives present,” Chukwu said.
The ward chairman added that the suspension decision has been forwarded to the Abuja Municipal Area Council chairman of the party, Omale Sule, for ratification in accordance with the party’s procedures.
Confirming the development, Sule said the matter would go through the party’s constitutional process before a final decision is made.
“As the party chairman at the local government level, I must wait for the official submission. Once it is received, it will be forwarded to the state chairman for further action,” he said.
Also reacting, the FCT chairman of the party, Clement Ehijiator, stated that the report had been received and would be reviewed in line with the party’s constitution.
He explained that the meeting where the suspension was announced was originally convened to deliberate on membership registration and other party-related issues in the territory.
“As the constitutional chairman of the party in the FCT, I have received the report. We will assess the allegations and take the necessary steps in line with the party’s constitution before forwarding it to the national leadership,” Ehijiator said.
During the meeting, party members also passed a vote of confidence in Ehijiator, commending his leadership of the party in the Federal Capital Territory.
