World record holder and reigning champion Tobi Amusan is set for another high-profile test as she prepares to compete in a stacked women’s 100m hurdles race at the Prefontaine Classic in Hayward Field on July 4.
Amusan will face a formidable lineup that includes Olympic champion Masai Russell, two-time world champion Danielle Williams, and World Championships bronze medallist Grace Stark.
The event, which marks the ninth stop of the Wanda Diamond League season, brings together some of the top names in the discipline at a venue where Amusan has previously made history.
It was at Hayward Field that the Nigerian star set a world record time of 12.12 seconds at the 2022 World Championships. She returned a year later to secure the Diamond League title, completing a dominant streak of three consecutive crowns from 2021 to 2023.
Now training in Jamaica under renowned coach Glen Mills at the Racers Track Club, Amusan has not competed since the World Championships in September 2025. Her return in Eugene is expected to attract significant attention given her strong history at the venue.
Russell heads into the race in top form after winning Olympic gold in Paris and claiming her first Diamond League victory in Silesia last August with a meet record of 12.19 seconds. She is also aiming for her first overall Diamond League title ahead of the season finale in Brussels.
Stark, meanwhile, enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 season, setting meeting records in Keqiao, Stockholm, and Paris before earning bronze at the World Championships in Tokyo.
Williams brings experience and consistency to the field, having secured her second world title in Budapest in 2023 and remaining a strong contender on the global stage.
The 2026 Diamond League season kicks off in Doha on May 8 and will travel across 15 cities before concluding in Brussels on September 4 and 5.
