Former Nollywood actress and United States Navy officer, Grace Bassey, has announced her engagement.
The actress, formerly known as Belinda Effah, shared the exciting news on her Facebook page on Tuesday, posting photos with her fiancé. Although she chose not to reveal his identity, the pictures showed her proudly displaying an engagement ring.
Expressing her happiness, Grace described finding true love as a dream come true but did not disclose when or where the proposal took place or provide further details about her fiancé.
In her post, she wrote: “Answered prayers. It feels like a dream, but when true love finds you, you melt.”
The engagement comes more than a year after Grace stepped away from the Nigerian film industry to pursue a career in the United States Navy.
In 2025, she attracted widespread attention after successfully completing the U.S. Navy boot camp and becoming a United States citizen following her oath of allegiance.
Grace dedicated the milestone to her late father, Asido Bassey Effah, a retired naval commander, saying his legacy inspired her military journey.
Before leaving Nollywood, the actress explained that acting no longer fulfilled her as it once did. She noted that joining the U.S. Navy had always been a lifelong ambition, having attended the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt and grown up in a military family.
