
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, has confirmed that four people died while eight others were injured in a lone accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The crash occurred in front of Christopher University in the early hours of Sunday, around 1:30 a.m., involving a commercial Toyota HiAce bus.
According to the FRSC spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi, a total of 13 passengers were involved, including 11 men and two women. Among them, eight sustained injuries, while four adult males lost their lives.
Preliminary findings revealed that the accident was caused by a tyre burst combined with overspeeding, which led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
Rescue officials from the Mowe Unit Command responded promptly, taking the injured victims to Famobis Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were deposited at Idera morgue.
The vehicle and recovered belongings were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Redeemed Police Station.
The Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and advised motorists to adhere to speed limits and ensure their vehicles, especially tyres, are in good condition before travelling.
