The Lagos State Government has announced a lineup of major projects to be inaugurated during the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on April 8 and 9, describing the occasion as a significant milestone in the state’s development drive.
Speaking at a media briefing, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said the visit highlights Lagos’ progress and the strong collaboration between the state and the Federal Government.
Among the key projects is the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge, a 5.04-kilometre infrastructure aimed at easing traffic congestion across major routes such as Ojota, Maryland, Mende, Opebi, and Allen. The project, originally conceived decades ago, was revived by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2022 to improve mobility and boost economic activities.
Also set for commissioning is the Alausa Multi-Agency Complex, a modern facility designed to house several government agencies in one location, thereby reducing bureaucratic delays and improving service delivery.
Another highlight is the redeveloped Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, a large-scale educational project accommodating about 20,000 students across 36 schools. The upgraded facility features modern classrooms, ICT hubs, laboratories, vocational centres, sports facilities, and inclusive infrastructure for students with disabilities.
Additional projects include the Lagos State Geographic Information Service (LASGEO) building, aimed at enhancing land administration, and a mid-level agro-produce hub in Ibeju-Lekki to strengthen food supply and support agribusiness.
Omotoso noted that the projects reflect long-term planning, economic growth, and improved quality of life for residents, adding that arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and secure presidential visit.
The commissioning is expected to further reinforce Lagos’ status as Nigeria’s economic hub and showcase its ongoing transformation efforts.
