The body of a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), identified simply as Joseph, has been discovered in his room in Benue State, two days after he reportedly passed away in his sleep.
The incident was made public by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Takema Akom Smith, who shared the information in a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. According to him, Joseph died quietly in his sleep.
Before his death, Joseph was serving at a rehabilitation hospital in Mkar, located in Gboko Local Government Area.
Takema described the late corps member as a familiar face, noting that Joseph was a regular visitor to his restaurant. He also mentioned taking a photo of him at the entrance during one of his visits.
