BREAKING : Senator Sandy Onor Purchases PDP Presidential Nomination Forms

Senator Sandy Onor has become the first aspirant to purchase the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination forms for the 2027 general elections.

Onor, who was the PDP governorship candidate in Cross River State in the 2023 election, picked up the forms at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Saturday. He is a known ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The development signals an early start to intra-party activities in the PDP as the main opposition party prepares for its presidential primary, scheduled for May 17 and 18, 2027. Presidential aspirants are required to pay N51 million for the nomination form.

Onor’s move comes amid ongoing realignments and positioning within the PDP, particularly by politicians associated with the Wike-led faction of the party. His entry into the presidential race is expected to shake up the contest for the party’s ticket.

As a former Senator and seasoned politician with strong roots in Cross River State, Onor brings significant experience to the race.

He has been active in PDP affairs and recently played key roles in party processes, including screening exercises for national positions.

Party sources indicate that more aspirants are expected to follow suit in the coming days as the PDP seeks to put forward a strong candidate capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
