Nigeria Football Federation Names Maikaba, Uwejamomere as U20 and U17 Coaches

The Nigeria Football Federation has officially appointed Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of Nigeria’s U20 and U17 male national teams respectively.

The appointments were approved by the federation’s Executive Committee following recommendations from the Technical and Development Committee. Maikaba will lead the Flying Eagles, while Uwejamomere takes over the Golden Eaglets.

Maikaba returns to Nigeria’s youth football setup with extensive experience, having previously coached the Golden Eaglets and served as assistant coach of the Flying Eagles under Paul Aigbogun.

Over the years, he has managed several Nigeria Premier Football League sides, including Enyimba FC, Wikki Tourists FC, Kano Pillars FC and Plateau United FC. One of his major achievements came in 2017 when he guided Akwa United FC to victory in the President’s Federation Cup.

Uwejamomere, on the other hand, brings strong technical and analytical expertise to the Golden Eaglets role. He has previously worked as a coach-analyst with the Nigeria national football team and the Nigeria women’s national football team.

He currently heads the academy at Sporting Lagos FC, which recently regained promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League. His coaching experience also includes developmental roles with English clubs Millwall FC, Gillingham FC and Nottingham Forest FC, as well as a stint as head coach of Stormers FC.
