The Hisbah Command in Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State has arrested seven men over allegations of exchanging their wives among themselves.
The head of the Hisbah board in the area, Ridwani Muhammad Khairan, disclosed that the suspects are believed to belong to a group known as “Wuddadu.”
Khairan described the alleged act as a strange and unacceptable practice that goes against Islamic teachings.
According to him, the suspects claimed the arrangement began after one of the members, identified as Muhammad Awwal, allegedly told the group he had a dream directing them to exchange wives.
“One of them, Muhammad Awwal, told us he received the instruction through a dream in which he claimed to have seen a prophet, and this was how they convinced their wives to participate,” Khairan stated.
He further revealed that the alleged activities had reportedly been going on in Azare town for nearly two years before the matter became public.
According to the Hisbah official, the situation came to light after one of the women involved reportedly decided to withdraw from the group.
“One of the women said she could no longer continue with what she described as pagan practices, and that was when the issue started unfolding,” he added.
Khairan explained that some members of the group later approached the Hisbah board with complaints, prompting an investigation into the matter.
