The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly generated more than ₦4.45 billion from the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ruling party earned the revenue from two presidential aspirants, over 83 governorship aspirants across 28 states, as well as aspirants contesting for National Assembly and state House of Assembly seats.
According to reports, the APC realised ₦200 million from the sale of presidential nomination forms to President Bola Tinubu and Stanley Osifo.
The party pegged its governorship nomination form at ₦50 million, Senate form at ₦20 million and House of Representatives form at ₦10 million.
The revenue boost is said to have further strengthened the APC’s financial position ahead of the elections, especially as opposition parties continue efforts to build a united front.
PGF Crisis Deepens
Meanwhile, the crisis rocking the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) reportedly intensified on Friday as the forum’s chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, secured backing from 18 APC governors.
The support followed reports that some governors had moved to remove Uzodimma and replace him with Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah.
Another faction within the forum was also said to be aligned with Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Following a closed-door meeting in Abuja, 18 governors openly declared support for Uzodimma’s leadership.
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, who addressed journalists after the meeting, moved a vote of confidence in Uzodimma and his deputy.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, also dismissed reports of division within the forum, insisting that APC governors remain united in support of President Tinubu.
Governors from Ondo, Kaduna, Sokoto, Ebonyi, Borno, Lagos, Kogi, Kano, Yobe, Kebbi and Benue states were reportedly present at the meeting, while Jigawa and Nasarawa states were represented by their deputy governors.
Uzodimma also denied claims of internal disunity, stressing that APC governors remain focused on supporting President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections and delivering good governance to Nigerians.
