Popular Nollywood actress, Doris Ogala, has emerged as the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Abia State governorship election.
Naija News reports that Ogala clinched the party’s ticket after emerging victorious in the AAC primary election, earning the right to represent the party in the race for the state’s highest political office.
Videos making the rounds on social media captured the actress celebrating with supporters moments after she was declared winner of the primary.
Her emergence follows months of internal debates and disagreements within the party over her governorship ambition. Despite opposition from some quarters, Ogala successfully secured the party’s nomination and will now fly the AAC flag in the 2027 election.
She is expected to challenge the incumbent governor, Alex Otti, who is seeking re-election under the platform of the Labour Party.
At the national level, the AAC will be represented in the 2027 presidential election by Omoyele Sowore, who is expected to contest against other leading candidates, including President Bola Tinubu.
Beyond politics, Ogala has remained a subject of public attention in recent months due to controversies surrounding her personal life.
Earlier this year, she was involved in a public disagreement with a Nigerian cleric over allegations linked to a failed marriage arrangement and other related matters.
