Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the national leadership of the Accord Party (AP) have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The decision was reached during a meeting held on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, between Governor Adeleke and the party’s national executives.
The development was disclosed in a statement by Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for Adeleke’s re-election campaign, who said the meeting centered on party affairs and strategies ahead of upcoming elections.
According to the statement, the Accord Party leadership emphasized the importance of allowing the Tinubu administration to complete key national infrastructure projects already in progress, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway.
The party noted that the completion of these projects would help maximize the benefits of ongoing federal investments in infrastructure.
The endorsement signals the Accord Party’s intention to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general election.
Discussions at the meeting also focused on the forthcoming August governorship election in Osun State, with party leaders calling for a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process.
They warned against violence, voter intimidation, and electoral malpractice, while also expressing concern over the alleged use of security agencies to harass or intimidate party members and supporters.
The Accord leadership urged authorities to ensure a level playing field that allows all political parties and candidates to participate freely in the election.
Among those present at the meeting were the party’s National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem; Deputy National Chairman, Maryam Sale; National Secretary, Ajaja Abiola Adebukola; National Treasurer, Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen; National Organising Secretary, Ibe Thankgod; National Publicity Secretary, Omorogbe Joseph; as well as Accord state chairmen from across the country.
