Nigerian singer and politician Banky W has revealed that his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, was the one who ultimately took the step that led to their marriage.
The couple made the disclosure during a recent interview with Teju Babyface, where they reflected on the early stages of their relationship and how it evolved over time.
Banky W explained that although he initially showed interest in Adesua, she kept him in the friend zone for a long period. He said he later stopped pursuing her actively and instead focused on prayer, hoping her perspective would change.
According to him, after more than a year, Adesua reached out and referred to him as her husband—a moment he described as the turning point in their relationship.
“Adesua was actually the one who asked me to be her husband. After keeping me in the friend zone for so long, I stepped back and prayed. Then, after a year and a few months, she called me ‘my husband’, and that changed everything,” he said.
Adesua, on her part, spoke about their marriage, noting that they have now been together for about a decade and still maintain a strong bond.
She highlighted how they continue to express affection in simple ways, such as holding hands and staying physically close even while resting.
She also shared that she once had reservations about marrying certain categories of people—including entertainers, pastors, and politicians—but ended up with a partner who embodies all three.
“We’ve been married for 10 years and still hold hands all the time. We even sleep with our feet touching. I never planned to marry an artiste, a pastor, or a politician, but somehow, I got all three,” she said.
