Real Madrid have confirmed that defender Antonio Rüdiger has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the Spanish giants until 2027.
The German centre-back’s previous contract was set to expire this summer, but the club decided to extend his stay after his impressive performances since joining from Chelsea in 2022.
Rüdiger, 33, has made 182 appearances for Los Blancos and has helped the club secure eight trophies, including a LaLiga title and a UEFA Champions League crown.
The defender’s renewal comes as Real Madrid prepare for a busy summer transfer window following two seasons without major silverware. The club has already announced the return of José Mourinho for a second spell as head coach after the departure of Álvaro Arbeloa.
Madrid have also completed the signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea FC in a deal reportedly worth an initial €55 million. The club are also expected to strengthen further with potential moves for Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva.
Rüdiger began his professional career at VfB Stuttgart before moving to AS Roma in 2015. He later joined Chelsea FC in 2017, where he won the Champions League in 2021.
After his Chelsea contract expired, Rüdiger moved to Real Madrid in 2022 and quickly became a key figure in the team’s defence. During his time at the Santiago Bernabéu, he has won LaLiga and the Champions League in 2024, as well as the Copa del Rey in 2023.
