Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has declared Edo State the next major focus in the struggle for improved welfare and recognition of Ijaw communities.
Speaking at the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide Manifesto Presentation and Debate in Degema, Rivers State, Dokubo expressed concern over the condition of Ijaw people in Edo and urged stakeholders to pay greater attention to their plight.
He stressed that the movement’s mission goes beyond Rivers State and should address challenges facing Ijaw communities across the Niger Delta. Dokubo also reminded members that the organization was founded to pursue a clear cause, not for social or personal interests.
“Our next battleground is Edo State. We cannot allow the Ijaws in Edo State to remain in the condition they are,” he stated, urging members to remain committed to the group’s objectives.
