Atlético Madrid Ready to Entertain Offers for Ademola Lookman Amid Premier League Interest

Spanish giants Atlético Madrid are reportedly open to selling Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman just months after signing him from Atalanta in one of the most notable transfers of the winter window.

Reports from Spain and Turkey, cited by Fotospor, suggest that Atlético would be willing to consider bids in the region of €60 million for the Super Eagles star during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Lookman joined Atlético in February for an initial fee of around €35 million plus add-ons and signed a long-term contract that runs until 2030. However, despite contributing four goals in La Liga as well as finding the net in both the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League, the 28-year-old is said to have struggled to fully adapt to the tactical demands of coach Diego Simeone.

The reports indicate that Simeone has given the green light for the club to listen to offers as Atlético prepares for a significant squad reshuffle ahead of next season.

The situation is expected to attract strong interest from several clubs across Europe, particularly in the Premier League. Arsenal are reportedly monitoring developments closely, with manager Mikel Arteta believed to be a long-time admirer of Lookman’s versatility in attack.

Liverpool have also been linked with the Nigerian international after tracking him during his successful spell in Italy, while Manchester United are reportedly evaluating him as they seek reinforcements in wide attacking positions.

Beyond England, Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahçe are expected to revive their interest after narrowly missing out on his signature before Atlético completed the transfer earlier this year. French champions Paris Saint-Germain have also been mentioned among the clubs monitoring his availability.

In Serie A, both Inter Milan and Juventus are reportedly admirers of the former Atalanta star. However, Atlético’s valuation and Lookman’s reported annual salary of €6 million could present financial challenges for potential Italian suitors.

Before his move to Spain, Lookman enjoyed a remarkable spell at Atalanta, scoring 55 goals and etching his name into the club’s history with a memorable hat-trick in the Europa League final. The Nigerian forward previously played for Charlton Athletic, Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City during his time in England.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Lookman’s future is once again expected to dominate transfer discussions as clubs across Europe weigh up a move for one of Nigeria’s most highly-rated attacking talents.
