The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has finally secured a venue for its national convention in Abuja, just hours after raising concerns over alleged attempts to obstruct the event.
According to reports, the development was announced on Monday by the party’s coalition mobilisation arm, ADC Vanguard, via its official 𝕏 handle.
The convention is now scheduled to hold at the Rainbow Event Centre in Garki Area 8, Abuja. The venue is located at Plot 1193a, off Southern Parkway, behind the FCDA/AGIS building and close to the NTA headquarters in Area 11.
The announcement came shortly after a party leader alleged that the ADC had faced challenges in securing a venue within the Federal Capital Territory.
Party alleges venue restrictions
Earlier on Monday, ADC chieftain Kola Ologbondiyan claimed the party struggled to obtain both public and private venues in Abuja.
He stated that the party had applied to use Eagle Square through the office of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, but did not receive approval despite acknowledgment of the request.
Ologbondiyan further said attempts to secure the Velodrome at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium also failed after engagements with officials at the Ministry of Sports.
He also alleged that several privately owned event centres in Abuja declined to host the party’s convention, citing fears of possible intimidation.
