Bwala Tells Rufai Oseni to Leave Arise TV and Join Peter Obi’s Campaign

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has taken a swipe at Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni, accusing him of acting as an unofficial spokesperson for Peter Obi.

Obi, who recently emerged as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election, had pledged to increase Nigeria’s electricity generation and distribution capacity to at least 10,000 megawatts within four years if elected president.

The former Anambra governor made the commitment on Saturday after securing the party’s ticket at its national convention in Abuja.

During a subsequent media appearance, Oseni questioned Obi about the feasibility of his power sector plans, seeking clarification on how the target would be achieved.

Reacting in a post on X, Bwala alleged that the journalist’s questioning was merely an attempt to conceal what he described as his support for Obi.

The presidential aide challenged Oseni to openly declare his political allegiance by stepping away from his role at Arise Television and participating directly in Obi’s campaign activities.

According to Bwala, if Oseni truly believes in Obi’s vision and leadership capacity, he should take a leave of absence or sabbatical from broadcasting and actively support the former presidential candidate’s political movement.

The remarks add to the growing political exchanges ahead of the 2027 general elections, as debates over policy proposals and media neutrality continue to generate public attention.
