Cape Verde captain and veteran goalkeeper Josimar Dias, popularly known as Vozinha, is on the verge of joining Chilean football powerhouse Colo Colo following his standout performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 40-year-old shot-stopper attracted international attention with a series of commanding displays against eventual champions Spain and runners-up Argentina. Although the transfer has yet to be officially completed, Colo Colo heightened expectations on Friday by sharing a social media post featuring what appeared to be the goalkeeper’s signature curly hairstyle.
The Chilean club welcomed the anticipated arrival with a multilingual message expressing excitement about seeing him at the Estadio Monumental.
The teaser generated widespread excitement among Colo Colo supporters and Chilean football fans, particularly after Chile failed to qualify for a third consecutive FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on Saturday, Blanco y Negro president Aníbal Mosa confirmed that Vozinha is expected to travel to Chile in the coming days to complete his medical examination before being officially unveiled as a Colo Colo player.
Mosa said the goalkeeper’s impressive World Cup performances played a key role in securing the transfer, adding that the signing is also expected to boost the club’s commercial appeal.
Vozinha entered the tournament after leaving Portuguese second-division club Chaves and quickly became one of the competition’s surprise stars, inspiring World Cup debutants Cape Verde with a series of memorable performances.
He earned a place in FIFA’s fan-voted World Cup Dream Team after helping Cape Verde hold eventual champions Spain to a goalless draw and pushing Argentina to extra time in the Round of 32.
The experienced goalkeeper captained Cape Verde throughout their historic first-ever World Cup campaign, which ended in a thrilling 3-2 extra-time defeat to Argentina.
