Chibuzo Okereke Clinches Labour Party’s 2027 Presidential Ticket

The Labour Party has officially adopted Dr. Chibuzo Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Naija News gathered that Okereke emerged as the party’s flagbearer through a consensus agreement involving fellow aspirants, party members, and key stakeholders. His candidacy was formally endorsed in Abuja on May 30, 2026.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, Okereke was described as a respected governance specialist, policy strategist, and reform advocate with a strong track record in public policy, legislative governance, and institutional development.

The statement highlighted his role as President of ERGAF-AFRICA Legislative Governance Innovation and Policy Hub, a leading policy and legislative research organization. He also serves as a legislative consultant to several committees and senior lawmakers in the National Assembly.

In addition, Okereke is a resident lecturer in the Department of Public Policy and Administration at Miva Open University, Abuja, where he plays a key role in mentoring future public administrators and policy experts.

Academically, he holds a PhD in Legislative Governance Studies as well as a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Legislative Studies, both obtained with distinction. His extensive knowledge of governance, accountability, and national development has earned him recognition as a regular commentator on both local and international media platforms.

The Labour Party stated that Okereke’s dedication to youth development, educational advancement, and democratic reform aligns with the kind of visionary, transparent, and transformative leadership needed to move Nigeria forward.
