Lagos State lawmaker and actor-turned-politician, Desmond Elliot, has said he is yet to identify any political figure who appears prepared to take over from President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during an interview with Morayo Afolabi, Elliot shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s leadership, governance, political succession, and his experience in public office.
According to the Surulere Constituency I representative, no individual has clearly emerged as a strong contender capable of stepping into Tinubu’s role in the near future.
Elliot said that, from his observation, he has not seen anyone who currently stands out as a potential successor to the President.
He also stressed the need for Nigeria to develop a unique democratic model and adopt long-term development plans that can guide the nation’s growth beyond individual administrations.
Reflecting on leadership, the lawmaker noted that public office is a temporary responsibility and should not be viewed as a sign of superiority, adding that many capable individuals exist outside government.
Highlighting progress in his constituency, Elliot pointed to improvements in infrastructure and electricity supply in Surulere, noting that the area has witnessed significant development compared to a decade ago.
He maintained that leadership should focus on delivering lasting improvements that positively impact the lives of citizens.
