Donald Trump Releases CCTV Footage of Suspect in Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting

U.S. President Donald Trump has made public CCTV footage and images of the suspect linked to the shooting scare at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.

The footage, released shortly before his media address, reportedly captures the suspect rushing into the ballroom of the Washington Hilton Hotel, appearing to bypass security metal detectors as armed operatives quickly moved in to stop him.

Describing the individual as a “would-be assassin,” Trump stated that the suspect was heavily armed and had managed to breach a key security checkpoint. Reports, including those from the BBC, indicate that the man forced his way past screening while carrying multiple weapons.

Images shared by the president show a shirtless man pinned face-down in a foyer with his hands restrained behind his back, believed to be the suspect. Authorities have confirmed that the individual is now in custody.

Trump also revealed that a law enforcement officer was shot during the incident but survived due to wearing a bulletproof vest.

The shooting occurred on Saturday night during the high-profile White House Correspondents’ Dinner—an event that brings together top government officials, journalists, and dignitaries. The incident sparked widespread panic and led to the immediate evacuation of guests and senior officials.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the motive behind the attack and how the suspect was able to breach security.
