The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to investigate human rights activist Deji Adeyanju and social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over allegations bordering on terrorism financing and questionable funding sources.
The investigation follows a petition submitted by lawyer Blessing Agbomhere, who urged the anti-graft agency to examine how both individuals receive and utilise funds for their advocacy activities, media engagements, protests, and legal actions.
The petition, dated June 17, 2026, requested the EFCC to verify the sources of their funding, assess compliance with financial regulations, and review possible links to illegal fundraising, money laundering, or tax-related violations.
Agbomhere also called for scrutiny of their financial records, including accounts, assets, business connections, and organisations associated with their activities.
However, the lawyer clarified that the petition does not imply guilt against Adeyanju or VeryDarkMan, but seeks an investigation to establish transparency and confirm whether their operations comply with the law.
