
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded results from 2,048 of the 2,445 polling units in the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing (IReV) portal.
As of 6:41 p.m. on Saturday, the uploaded results accounted for 83.7 per cent of the total polling units across the state, marking a sharp increase from the 35.5 per cent recorded about 30 minutes earlier at 6:12 p.m.
A total of 14 candidates are participating in the off-cycle governorship election. Incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is seeking re-election ahead of the expiration of his first term in October.
Among his major opponents are Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluwadare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oyebanji Olajuyin of the Labour Party (LP), and Blessing Abegunde of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Other candidates in the race include Samuel Akande (AAC), Ayodeji Ojo (ADP), Opeyemi Felegan (Accord), Joseph Anifowose (APM), Bidemi Awogbemi (APP), Olaniyi Ayodele (PRP), and Victor Adetunji (ZLP).
INEC continues to upload results to the IReV portal as collation progresses across the state.
