Fulani Militants Have Killed More People Than Boko Haram, ISIS – U.S. Congressman Riley Moore

U.S. Congressman Riley Moore has claimed that Fulani militants were responsible for more deaths in Nigeria over the past year than both Boko Haram and ISIS.

Moore made the statement on Saturday through his verified X account while reacting to a recent report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.

According to the commission’s May 2026 report titled “Nonstate Violators of Religious Freedom in Nigeria: Fulani Militants,” an estimated 30,000 armed Fulani militants are currently operating across Nigeria in groups ranging from 10 to 1,000 members. The report described the militants as some of the most deadly non-state actors responsible for violations of religious freedom in the country.

Responding to the findings, Moore said the report further validates concerns he and Mario DB previously presented to U.S. President Donald Trump.

He stated that Fulani militants killed more Nigerians in the past year than Boko Haram or ISIS, adding that Christian communities have suffered the most from the violence.

Moore also praised Trump’s decision to specifically address the threat posed by Fulani militants in the administration’s counterterrorism strategy, stressing that the United States must continue supporting Christians facing persecution and ensure those responsible for the attacks are held accountable.
