The Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has urged President Bola Tinubu to step down if his administration is unable to tackle the worsening insecurity in Nigeria.
Naija News reports that Suleman made the remarks while addressing his congregation on the country’s security challenges, stressing that government efforts should go beyond confronting armed attackers to targeting those financing terrorism.
He argued that the true threat to national security includes individuals and networks that fund, equip, and support terrorist groups, insisting they must be identified and prosecuted if the crisis is to be resolved.
According to him, decisive action is needed to dismantle the infrastructure sustaining violent groups across the country.
Suleman claimed that many of the current attackers are linked to a long-standing system that has allowed extremist elements to grow over the years.
He said, “The sponsors of terrorism are our real problem. Go after them. If the President cannot deal with them, he should resign, let somebody else do it.”
He further explained that many of the armed youths involved in attacks are part of a younger generation influenced by earlier violent networks, arguing that addressing only the foot soldiers would not end insecurity.
The cleric maintained that lasting peace would only be achieved if those behind the violence were exposed and brought to justice.
Despite his criticism, Suleman praised Nigeria’s security forces, describing the Army, Police, and Department of State Services (DSS) as among the best globally, based on his international experience.
He added that these agencies could achieve more if given stronger political backing to confront those enabling insecurity.
Nigeria continues to grapple with terrorism, banditry, kidnappings, and other violent crimes, with increasing calls from citizens and leaders for stronger government action.
Suleman’s comments add to growing public pressure on the Tinubu administration to improve national security and restore public confidence.
