“I Left ‘Wura’ Financially Struggling” – Lanre Adediwura

Nollywood actor Lanre Adediwura has revealed that he faced financial difficulties after working on the Wura television series, stating that YouTube productions eventually helped him regain stability.

Speaking during an interview on TVC Entertainment, the actor explained why he turned down an offer to reprise his role in the series.

According to Lanre, despite the popularity of the show, the project did not provide the financial benefits he had expected. He also claimed that the production schedule prevented him from accepting other acting opportunities that could have positively impacted his career.

“I left ‘Wura’ spending more than I earned. I became poorer after the show,” he said.

The actor disclosed that for about six months after the series ended, he struggled financially and credited YouTube projects for helping him recover.

While acknowledging that the role brought him visibility and recognition, he alleged that some promises made during negotiations were not fulfilled.

Lanre further stated that he was advised not to take on outside productions during the 11 months of filming, a decision he believes cost him major opportunities in the industry.

He specifically mentioned missing out on a role in House of Ga’a, revealing that he had translated the project from English to Yoruba and was initially expected to play the role of Alaafin Abiodun.

The actor also maintained that speaking publicly about his experience would not create legal issues, insisting that he introduced unique expressions and creative elements to the show that are still associated with it today.

“There can’t be any issue because I created certain nuances on the show that are still being used,” he added.
