Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Sets May 11 for 2026 Admission Cut-Off Decision

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled May 11, 2026, for its annual policy meeting to determine admission benchmarks for tertiary institutions nationwide.

According to JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the meeting will be held in Abuja and will focus on setting the minimum UTME cut-off marks, along with guidelines for admissions into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other higher institutions for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, is expected to present key policy directions that will shape the upcoming admission process.

The gathering will bring together major stakeholders in the education sector, including vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers from across the country. Representatives from regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) are also expected to attend.

JAMB noted that the meeting will serve as a platform to review admission-related issues and agree on a unified framework for the new academic session. It will also feature goodwill messages from institutions like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), highlighting the need for coordinated planning in the education sector.

In addition, the event will host the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards, aimed at promoting transparency and strict adherence to admission guidelines.

The decisions reached at the meeting are expected to guide all tertiary institutions in conducting admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year.
