JUST IN: Anthony Joshua set for first fight since car accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is set to make his return to boxing on July 25, when he faces Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, the upcoming bout will be Joshua’s first fight since a serious car accident in Nigeria in December, which left him injured and tragically resulted in the deaths of two members of his team. His most recent fight was earlier that same month against Jake Paul.

Joshua has confirmed that he has signed a multi-fight agreement ahead of his comeback. He explained that he has spent recent months recovering and rebuilding, and now feels ready to return to competition, starting with the July 25 fight in Saudi Arabia. He also expressed confidence about resuming his career and making an impact in the division again.

The announcement comes amid ongoing speculation about a potential long-awaited showdown with Tyson Fury. A Saudi boxing official suggested that agreements for major fights are already in place, fueling further excitement among fans.

Fury recently returned to the ring with a victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, after a lengthy break from boxing. Following that fight, Fury publicly called out Joshua, urging him to accept a matchup between them.

Joshua responded by dismissing the challenge in strong terms, insisting he has no issue facing Fury but making it clear he will decide when the fight happens. He also stated that discussions over terms would be handled on his own conditions, maintaining that he is in control of his career decisions.

If Joshua wins his July comeback fight without injury, a major clash between him and Fury could take place later in the year, depending on negotiations and scheduling.
